Revealed: Washed

Sorrows washed away.

“And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them. They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat. For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.”
Revelation 7:14-17 KJV

What does it mean to wash our robes? Just as water cleanses us physically, so Christ cleanses us spiritually— exchanging sinful soil with pure water. When we claim Christ’s death on the cross as a substitute for our sins, we receive a clean robe.

“Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.”
John 4:13-14 KJV

With tender compassion, Christ gives specific promises to those who die to self while living on Earth: protection, relief from scorching heat, and life-giving water. And as the redeemed look upon the heavenly fountains, their personal God wipes away the sorrows of this Earthly life.
