“And blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, and repented not of their deeds.”
—Revelation 16:11 KJV
Fountainview Academy: It is Finished
The plagues of God’s wrath mirror the plagues that fell on the Egyptians as Moses pled with Pharaoh to release the Israelites from slavery. They cover all who worship falsely; they continue because people refuse to repent and choose to blame God for their own choices.
Even for those who don’t live in this specific time of Earth’s history, Christ inserts a warning. While death is certain, I don’t know when I will die. I need to make sure I’m covered continually in Christ.
“And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead?
To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.”
—Isaiah 8:19, 20 KJV
As the seventh angel pours out final wrath, John hears a voice from the temple say, “It is done.” Christ has finished his priestly work in the temple. Christ’s role as intercessor is complete, just as dying on the cross completed his earthly ministry. In the Holy City, John saw no physical temple—in the new earth there is no need of redemption.
