snowy wood duck

Polar bear plunge.

“God thundereth marvellously with his voice; great things doeth he, which we cannot comprehend.

For he saith to the snow, Be thou on the earth; likewise to the small rain, and to the great rain of his strength.”

Spring refresh.

“As snow in summer, and as rain in harvest, so honour is not seemly for a fool.

As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come.”

Isaiah 1:18 KJV

winter crepe myrtle

Inspiration for art posted 8.24-25.2014.

After a snowstorm blanketed my north Alabama community with five inches of snow, I donned my boots; grabbed my camera. I savored the clear sky and children’s chatter, as the wind shook snow whispers from the crepe myrtles that line our streets.

This week provides a short interlude to the Promised Land cartoon saga. I’ll be posting two art pieces each inspired by two photographs. Which art version(s) do you like? Let me know in the comments section!

In the following weeks, the book of Ruth provides inspiration for Promised Land: Orchard Valley. Between baking pies and training horses, Susanna falls in love, tracks horse thieves, and … well, I can’t allow a spoiler before you’ve seen the next post!

The adventure continues …

Reader’s Choice: Blue Winter Stroll

snow shower blue

Solving my winter blues.

“For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.

Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir tree, and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree: and it shall be to the Lord for a name, for an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.”
Isaiah 55:12, 13 KJV

DIY: Psalm 23 Gift Album

Here’s an idea to help a child memorize Scripture, or to encourage a friend.

4x6 color prints

Print the Psalm 23 color cartoons (10) on 4×6 photo cards. Create sticky labels with the corresponding verse for the back of each cartoon.

photo albums

Use a 4×6 photo album to hold the prints.

color me prints

Include a few favorite Color Me prints.

text in 4x6 format

Since most albums won’t show the reverse side of each photo, you may want to include a 4×6 text print of Psalm 23.
