Nose to nose with a crocodile in the Everglades, Moose wondered how the egret stood so still in the face of danger.

“And as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the Lord your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath.”
Joshua 2:11 KJV

Out of Darkness

mammoth cave national park, kentucky

Chasing the stray kitty, Harriet and June wandered too far into the cave, enduring a night of darkness before rescue.

“Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”
John 8:12 KJV

Road Trip: Past Inspires Present

Montana proudly led the holiday parade in the Black Hills of South Dakota as he remembered some of his favorite Biblical leaders.

“The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.

When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, Lord, will I seek.”
Psalm 27:1, 5, 8 KJV

“And it came to pass, that when Jehudi had read three or four leaves, he cut it with the penknife, and cast it into the fire that was on the hearth, until all the roll was consumed in the fire that was on the hearth.

Yet they were not afraid, nor rent their garments, neither the king, nor any of his servants that heard all these words.”

Love Restored

love restored

After munching her favorite bagel combo, Irene helped her dad rescue a frightened, starving kitten hiding under their pony car.

“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.”
Psalm 23:4 KJV

Peace in the Storm

faith in action

A squall surprised the crew, who feared the injured calf would sink the boat. Instead, he slept peacefully through the storm.

“And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep.

And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish.

And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.”
Matthew 8:24-26 KJV

Leap of Faith

stormy rescue

Before crossing an inlet in Alaska, Moose found space on his fishing boat for an injured moose calf.

“But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.”
James 1:6 KJV

To Be: Peacemaker

beatitude: peacemaker

Moose finally inspired Prickles, a valentine gift to June, to uncurl when they discovered a mutual love of watermelon.

“Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.”
Matthew 5:9 KJV

Starry Night

On trail rides, when Zeke awoke to the night sounds, Rosita challenged him to find the brightest star in the night sky.

“When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.”

Flavor of Faith

Sam knew it wasn’t just the spicy flavor of the new condiment Harriet used on his lunch sandwich that inspired him to solve the problem at Agate Beach dock. With a freight company declaring bankruptcy, frustrated sailors had left large piles of the freight on the dock. When the community needed a fresh water well dug, Sam directed that the fragile china be wrapped and packed in barrels to ship back to the company, filling the space around the items with dirt from the well to prevent breakage.

“Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.”
Matthew 21:21 KJV
