Coloring Fun: Essence of Love

Risking Rosita’s scolding for a late delivery of fresh blueberries, Zeke took time to listen to God’s creation greet the morning.

“Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.

And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word.

But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.

And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:

But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.”
Luke 10:38-42 KJV

Ponies & Cars

Irene didn’t ever forget the first test drive of their restored Ford Mustang convertible, when her dad told her about Great-Great-Grandfather Montana riding for the Pony Express, after they stopped to watch wild horses splash through surf and sand.

“And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.”

To Be: Joyful

beatitude: joyful

When their hearts could not sing, Moose and June thanked their Creator for the melodies of nature.

“Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.”
Matthew 5:11, 12 KJV

Thirst Quencher

sassafras roots

Inspired by the breakers pounding the rocks, Sam mixed his sassafras soda with a scoop of ice cream to create a favorite treat for the group of army veterans that frequented Agate Beach.

“Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.”
Proverbs 16:24 KJV

“And he shall stand and feed in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God; and they shall abide: for now shall he be great unto the ends of the earth.”
Micah 5:4 KJV

United Hearts

June placed her hope in God as she started an unknown future with Moose. Watching Zeke walk towards them, holding Susanna’s family Bible, remained a favorite memory.

“But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.”
Psalm 5:11 KJV

Reveille

serenade

June’s heart nearly burst as she saw friends gather to celebrate their joy. Caleb, Rosita and Zeke arrived eager to help with details. Mr. Kingman sent regrets, along with a silver tea set. Jeb, Judy and Cream surprised Montana, arriving from Gettysburg dusty and tired. Rosita, Judy and Cream helped bake desserts, adding peach pocket pies to the wedding luau menu. Jeb, along with friendly seagulls, serenaded the wedding party as they gathered to practice.

“And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.”
Romans 13:11 KJV

Not Just Another Luau

feast for the eyes

The sight of a mother moose and her calf silenced Moose and June’s early morning chatter.

“When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom,

And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.

This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.”
John 2:9-11 KJV

But Does It Taste Good?

taste testers

Of all the details required to plan her wedding, June enjoyed taste-testing samples for their wedding luau the most. Her favorites from the menu: Baked Alaska and Blue Apple Pie.

“Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.”
Matthew 7:20 KJV

One More Question

blueberry proposal

Moose surprised June with lunch as she picked the last of the blueberry crop in Agate Beach. One blueberry biscuit held the promise of a lifetime together.

“But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.

For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife;

And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh.”
Mark 10:6-8 KJV

Questions

heart and hand

Returning to San Francisco, Moose discovered June had chosen to return to Agate Beach. He hurried to Orchard Valley with one question for Montana: “June has my heart, I’d like to ask for her hand …”

“Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:”
1 Peter 3:8 KJV
