“Watch Ye Saints”

“Tell, O tell of grace a-bounding,”

“And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,

To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.”
Jude 1:14, 15 KJV

Moose felt hungry every time he painted with the color yellow.

“Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.”

Erasing evil.

“The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.

The face of the Lord is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.”
Psalm 34:15, 16 KJV

Star Witness

Sonrise on the beach

During an overnight camping trip, an ocean sunrise inspired Montana and Susanna to consider the great cloud of witnesses recorded in Hebrews 11.

“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
Hebrews 11:6 KJV

Christ’s Bride: Waiting for the Lamb

servant washing

As Judy washed her daughter’s feet, she experienced the hope of new beginnings.

“And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.

Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.

And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.”
Revelation 19:6-8 KJV

To Be: Royalty

beatitude: royalty

Inside their ship barn, safe from the threatening forest fire, Moose almost didn’t hear the neighbors’ jeers as he tasted the fresh tomato pizza June had baked.

“Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
Matthew 5:10 KJV

To Be: Satisfied

beatitude: satisfied

While Moby’s Steak n’ Bake claimed bigger means better, Sam’s Steel Oats café allowed the Agate Beach community to choose health over wealth.

“Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.”
Matthew 5:6 KJV

Fear and Trembling

charred chapel

Susanna tugged out a quilt scrap from under the burnt timbers of the chapel. How could God allow His temple to be destroyed? How was it that her beloved husband died, while greedy thieves like Frederic Bucannon gloried in pleasure? She wondered at God’s leading. If Montana had told her of all these changes in Orchard Valley, she’d have been sorely tempted to settle in Sacramento.

“They have cast fire into thy sanctuary, they have defiled by casting down the dwelling place of thy name to the ground.

For God is my King of old, working salvation in the midst of the earth.

O let not the oppressed return ashamed: let the poor and needy praise thy name.”
Psalm 74:7, 12, 21 KJV

Trail Signpost

memory detour

Susanna and June took a day’s detour to join the celebration in Sacramento, hoping to see some of the families from Orchard Valley.

“Lead me, O Lord, in thy righteousness because of mine enemies; make thy way straight before my face.”
Psalm 5:8 KJV
