Road Trip: Everlasting Door

delicate arch, arches national park

The carved rocks stacked against Utah’s cobalt blue sky reminded Montana of the protective chaps he wore on roundups.

“Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.

Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle.

Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.”
Psalm 24:7-9 KJV

Rails East: Meet Me in the Middle

railroad:gold spike

Promontory, Utah Territory: “We all wondered at the miracle of the railroad stretching across the mountains and valleys of our country. When we were sure of a clear track, several of us touched the last spike driven to create the transcontinental railroad. It helped me feel united with all the travelers that would pass over this spot. Some of the Chinese who had helped build this section owned a restaurant at the station. What a challenge to eat vegetables and noodles with two sticks!”

“Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”
Ephesians 4:3 KJV
