Road Trip: Everlasting Door

delicate arch, arches national park

The carved rocks stacked against Utah’s cobalt blue sky reminded Montana of the protective chaps he wore on roundups.

“Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.

Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle.

Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.”
Psalm 24:7-9 KJV

Hope Heals

Faith Works

During the winter months, Caleb and Montana created a church building plan for a small community near Orchard Valley. The town mayor didn’t bother waiting for Montana to tip his hat before throwing the plan in the fire.

“And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;

And patience, experience; and experience, hope:”
Romans 5:3, 4 KJV

Tugging on the Strings

As June traveled to Agate Beach with Montana and Susanna, she savored the soft whispering pines and fresh blueberry biscuits. After several vespers at Agate Beach with Sam and Harriet, June found she could once again peacefully listen to waves breaking on shore.

“We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:”
2 Peter 1:19 KJV

June learned to sing her frustrations into the sea while strumming Sam’s guitar.

“And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore.”

Mighty Chorus

sparrow's song

Montana and Susanna joined the community in rebuilding the chapel as a first step in their new life together.

“In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem, Fear thou not: and to Zion, Let not thine hands be slack.

The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.”
Zephaniah 3:16, 17 KJV

Voice of Thanksgiving

As Harriet led the songfest with Sam, she slowly recognized the specific colors and patterns of the quilt that wrapped Susanna and June in warmth.
